Vegan actress Olivia | Eat it post it

Olivia Wilde has been announced as the new face of H&M’s latest Conscious Exclusive collection, which “shows the stylishness of sustainability”.

Renowned for her commitment for environmental and humanitarian work, the 30-year-old American actress seems to be perfect fit for the luxurious eco-friendly clothing line.

Wilde is a vegan who backs causes such as the Fair Foods campaign in the US and Artists for Peace and Justice, which provides education and health services in Haiti. Conscious Exclusive is the Swedish retailer’s ethically-minded line, which produces more sustainable products and is made up of organic materials (organic silk, cotton, linen, Tencel, recycled polyester and conscious leather).

“Sustainability is one of my biggest passions… I’m proud to be the face of H&M Conscious Exclusive,” says Wilde.

The mother-of-one, who recently appeared breastfeeding on a fashion shoot, will showcase a collection inspired by African, Asian and Indian cultures, which will launch on 15 April 2015.

“I love the look of this year’s collection. The pieces are full of character in the most beautiful prints, all made from more sustainable materials,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Head of Design for New Development.

Previous collections have featured statement pieces and higher price points than the store’s usual affordable price tags, and previous ambassadors for the H&M’s green line include Vanessa Paradis and Amber Valleta, and actress Michelle Williams famously wore a piece from the line to the 2013 Baftas.

This collection, however, is not to be confused with an additional sustainable line simply called Conscious, which includes wardrobe basics.
