Tuesday Volleyball Roundup: John Tyler, Carthage Earn Sweeps + ...

TYLER — The John Tyler Lady Lions earned a 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 sweep of Nacogdoches on Tuesday night in District 16-5A action.


Chenique Baxter led John Tyler (6-3 in district) with 12 kills, 13 digs and an ace. Jo Preston added 10 kills, seven digs, two aces and a block, DeDe Rouege finished with nine kills, 10 assists, three blocks and six digs, while Shakendra Tilley chipped in with six kills and three blocks.


John Tyler’s season resumes Friday at Tatum in non-district action. The Lady Lions return to district play next Tuesday at home against Whitehouse.


Van Sweeps Wills Point


WILLS POINT — The Van Lady Vandals remained unbeaten in District 14-4A with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-14 sweep of Wills Point on Tuesday.


Hallee Carter led Van (27-9, 5-0) with 15 kills and 11 digs. Bri Thompson added 12 kills and nine digs, McKenna Daniel dished out 38 assists to go along with three aces, six digs and a block, while the duo of Alli Lloyd and Jasiee Harris combined for seven kills and six digs.


Van plays host to Brownsboro on Friday.


Carthage Remains Unbeaten In District


CARTHAGE — The Carthage Lady Dawgs remained undefeated in District 19-4A with a 25-18, 25-12, 25-14 sweep of Rusk on Tuesday.


Marisah Ingram and Alli Capps led the way for Carthage (23-11, 6-0) with 15 kills apiece. Faith Landreneaux added 12 kills, Kenzie Templeton added 35 assists and eight digs, while Kaitlyn Nutt chipped in with 17 digs.


Carthage plays host to Henderson next Tuesday night.


Winona Takes Down Harmony


WINONA — The Winona Ladycats earned a 26-24, 25-18, 22-25, 25-17 win over Harmony in District 14-3A action Tuesday night.


Kawaii Gordon paced Winona with 22 kills. Janeth Tarango and Randysha Hanson added 14 and 13 kills, respectively, Bailey Daniels dished out 28 assists to go with 10 digs and three aces, while Nichole Garrett added three blocks.


Winona plays host to Edgewood on Friday.


Eustace Earns Sweep Of Malakoff


MALAKOFF — The Eustace Lady Bulldogs scored a 26-24, 25-21, 25-22 sweep of Malakoff in District 18-3A action on Tuesday.


Kasey Lopez led Eustace with 14 kills. Taylor Peebles added seven kills, Marshalla Padgett finished with five kills, Makenzie Abbott and Michelle Gomez had four kills apiece, Abra Roberts finished with a team-high 22 assists to go with four aces, while Ashley Purselley finished with 14 assists.


Eustace plays at West Rusk on Saturday.


Ore City Pulls Away From Karnack


KARNACK — Despite dropping the first set, the Ore City Lady Rebels went on to win three straight in a 21-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-12 win Tuesday night in District 19-2A action.


Ore City (4-2 in district) trailed 24-10 in the opening game, but thanks to the clutch serving of Chelsea Young, was able to win 11 of the game’s next 12 points.


The Lady Rebels were able to capitalize on that momentum over the match’s final three sets.


Beckville Sweeps Overton


BECKVILLE — The Beckville Lady Bearcats earned a 25-13, 25-9, 25-16 sweep of Overton in District 20-2A action Tuesday night.


Carson Blair led Beckville (28-4, 6-0) with 16 kills, seven digs and an ace. Carley Lawhorn added nine kills, three digs and one ace, Cassie Elizondo had four kills and a dig, Kinley Blair had four kills, two digs and a block, while Kassidy Alexander dished out 37 assists.


Beckville plays host to Carlisle on Friday.
