Members of House, Senate Call for Travel Ban from Ebola-Afflicted ...

BeFunky_mapafricasierraleoneliberiaguinea Ebola Afflicted Nations

As of this morning (Thursday) five Republican senators, 41 members of Congress, three of whom are Progressives are demanding that Barack Obama place a travel ban on airline traffic into the United States from nations afflicted with the Ebola virus, i.e., Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Daily Mail

Republican Senator Ted Cruz…wrote Wednesday in a Texas Tribune op-ed that ‘we all very much hope the virus will not spread any further in Texas. But hope is not a strategy….’

Rep. Lou Barletta, a Pennsylvania Republican, said in a statement that the U.S. is ‘faced with the growing threat of a disease for which there is no known reliable cure, and we know where it’s coming from. Why would we not act in every way possible to stop it from reaching us?’

That sentiment is 180 degrees opposition from the White House’s point of view, producing a clash that has D.C.beltway insiders scratching their heads.

A group of 26 House members, including Democrats Alan Grayson, Dave Loebsack and Kyrsten Sinema, wrote to Obama on Oct. 8 that ‘the United States needs to institute travel restrictions, enhanced airport screening and possible quarantine of individuals who have traveled to, or from’ Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea….

John Boehner tweeted out a press release finally joining the call Wednesday while Progressive leaders remain silent.

“In a September 16 speech in Atlanta, President Obama said the ‘chances of an Ebola outbreak here in the United States are extremely low.’ Since that time, several Americans have been diagnosed with the virus and untold more potentially exposed to it. Today we learned that one individual who has contracted the virus flew to Ohio through the Cleveland airport in the last few days. A temporary ban on travel to the United States from countries afflicted with the virus is something that the president should absolutely consider along with any other appropriate actions as doubts about the security of our air travel systems grow.

“It is also imperative we ensure that federal, state and local agencies, along with our public health infrastructure, are prepared, remain vigilant, and follow proper protocols to identify the virus and take appropriate measures for those who have been exposed to it….

Among those Progressives objecting to a travel ban is the queen race baiter herself, Sheila Jackson Lee. Lee, politicizing the Ebola outbreak blames Republicans for cuts to the CDC. (What else is new?) H/t Weasel Zippers.

Allegations by Lee and fellow Progressives’ are so absurd that the Washington Post Fact Checker gave Progressives 4 Pinocchios. (See, “The absurd claim that only Republicans are to blame for cuts to Ebola research.”)

As such is the mindset of the Marxists ruling class, Wisconsin’s race hustler Rep. Gwen Moore considers the travel ban a “quick fix” that “will only exacerbate the epidemic in the region….” Really.

Those like Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) have suggested instituting a travel ban to and from West Africa. This idea may seem like a quick fix but in reality, isolating West Africa will only exacerbate the epidemic in the region. Aside from being impractical, this reactionary strategy will force Ebola patients underground making it nearly impossible to track their movements, hinder the capacity for international healthcare workers to transport and administer critical aid, and erode the continent’s fragile economy. …

Hard to believe that these cretins are voted into office. Lee and Moore are representing the interests of Barack Obama not the interests of their constituents.

RANT:

Progressive talking points: Calling for a travel ban is racist as long as Ebola does not come knocking on their doors. Communists have no honor.

Let me get this straight, it is not racist when African nations impose a travel ban, only when the United States does it?

Obama Deception and Taking Advantage of a Good Crisis

In the meantime, Barack Obama has cancelled fundraising and campaigning engagements supposedly because of the growing Ebola crisis, which according to the malignant narcissist is still not crucial enough to close for a temporary travel ban.

So then, why did Obama really cancel his plans?

The million-dollar question: Why hasn’t Obama ordered a travel ban?

What is he thinking?

Makes for a good photo op is only part of it.

While Americans are distracted, Obama and comrades see this as the perfect opportunity to complete (or attempt to) his fundamental transformation of the United States, i.e., Cloward & Piven, reset in addition to pursuing a variety of executive actions.

So many will not see it coming.

Translation: Obama does not give a damn, even in the face of the country going down to hell in a hand basket and the potential threat of loss of life, much of which is his doing and blood on his hands, Obama plans to stay the course.

On a final note, Obama and fellow Marxist elites could not be happier.
