You've been waiting in her car to pick me up, as they repeatedly tells me via SMS. Williams is a participant in "Meet The People" (MTP), an official greet-God-initiative of the Tourist Office of Jamaica. The motto says it all: tourists meet the locals. Away from border control, breakfast buffet and Kreuzfahrtmall.

I would have been on time. But the driver of my public taxis has forgotten to dump me to agreed place. Public taxis are shared taxis. An unofficial "Meet The People" on wheels. In these sardine cans to get the land and people closer. So much so, that one can hardly move. Not even the hands of a prayer, which would sometimes be quite appropriate. Lawn is in Jamaica apparently the recommended speed.

How Michelle Williams, who invites me to lunch at her house. It was assigned to me by a co-ordinator. Because they a) lives in the area, has b) time and c) can do something with my desired discussion topics: football, music, and tropical cuisine. Guests are welcome to the coordinator via visitjamaica. com occupation, hobbies and desires by giving – so there is an exchange and the meeting did not result in a one-sided Kulturgafferei. Guest and host are to meet at eye level.

Mervin Williams talks about his past career on a cruise ship. He remembers ashore in distant Europe and wants to know the guest estimates of position and league, Tags: world politics and Bundesliga. "I love Soca" says Mervin and puts his next favorite CD. Caribbean sounds and sea view – "Meet The Paradise".

The fact is that Jamaica is not easy to take on every corner. Poverty and unemployment drive so many into crime. The so-called hustling – the intrusive advertising goods and services – deters tourists. You can read more on this topic here chinese flag
