Book Review: Michelle D. Argyle's “Out of Tune” | CultureShock

Out of TuneOut of Tune by Michelle D. Argyle

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

NOTE: I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review as part of Argyle’s blog tour.

I am a HUGE country music fan, so signing up to host a tour for this and review it was a no-brainer. I’d already read and enjoyed a couple of her other books, so I couldn’t wait to check this one out.

It follows the story of a young woman whose parents are country superstars. She has a burning desire to get up on stage and sing like they do, but there’s one problem–she can’t sing.

I enjoyed this story very much. The characters were interesting and the relationships between them were believable to me. I particularly loved how Argyle took us on a journey of this young woman trying to assert some independence for herself while still wanting so badly to hang on to the familiar things in life, especially with a bunch of personal turmoil going on. I also liked how the author worked in so many details about the music business and vocal training.

Overall, an entertaining and touching read. :)
