Branson, MO – After purchasing the rights to the Harlem Globetrotters, Silver Dollar City parent company HFE, is planning to build a new section of the park to feature the traveling basketball team and provide an arena for “home” games.
While appearing at the Silver Dollar City Arena the team will play a stooge team known as the Ozarks Baldknobbertrotters to be the Globetrotters inept foils. “The what-kobbers?” exclaimed the “Clown Prince” of basketball Medowlark Lemon, “Oh man, let me back on the court cause I can’t wait to beat those no-talent tick-yankers.”
The Baldknobbertrotters will unveil their new uniforms soon however many people are speculating on the composition of the outfits. “Pretty sure they will be barefoot and wearing overalls – one strap over the shoulder,” said Shanda Pickerson of Branson. “I hope they don’t wear the masks like the Fire in the Hole ride,” said Nate Bert, “that could totally be taken the wrong way.” No matter the costuming, most people are looking forward to the matchup.
“The exciting irony is going to be watching the Globetrotters burn down the house on the baldknobbertrotters, who have burned down several builders in the past,” said historian and basketball junkie Victor McCaverdine.
At press time, considerable interest was being generated to locate the new arena in the soon to be empty footprint at the Shepherd of the Hills theatre.
