An Open Letter to My Congressman | Writer in a Bubble

Dear Representative Lee, or perhaps I should call you Blowhard Lee, because that is what you have become.

Your pick a “topic” on your Website gave me so many choices, and frankly, since there was not a “blowhard” choice, I picked the one that is the most timely and the most ludicrous: healthcare.

I read an interview with you a while back, in which you stated you had voted against seating a judge that President Obama had picked simply cause Obama picked him. You went on to say you personally thought he would have made a good judge.

Thank you for proving that you and your compatriots have the mental capacity five year olds, and if you don’t get both the crayons AND the cookies, you are going home to tell your mother, or lobbyist.

Teenage girls also act this way in groups. They pick someone and the Queen Bee decides how they will treat her. And everyone follows. It’s all very mature.

You have proved yourself worthy of such a title. Would you prefer Queen Bee to Blowhard? I’m willing to use either one.

I am disgusted that you would willingly sacrifice even ONE of your constituents, people who voted for you honestly and with faith you would do your job, in order to join this teenage-mob-mentality group and vote against ADA, Obama, and anything he says or does JUST because HE said it or did it.

Yes, that is right. That is what you admitted in the article. That you liked the judge, but darnit, the group of puppets–to whom you belong–that are being controlled by the lobbying of the healthcare insurance industry, is going to do just that, just because he is Obama.

You will fight a bill that has passed more than 40 times, and which should be nothing more than another day’s work, to try and destroy Obama.

And the victim in all of this? Why it’s me. It’s my retired military husband. It’s my sister, who works at the VA, and my brother-in-law who works at Dugway Proving Ground, where I’m sure you would never dirty your hands.

It is YOUR constituents, and you are WILLINGLY sacrificing them to win a meaningless victory, because THIS BILL HAS ALREADY PASSED.

This is not what you were elected for. And your constituents, including me and all my friends and family and everyone who reads my blogs and books, will remember this at election time. I do not remember you EVER saying “I’m running on the platform of mob rule. We will shut the government down and not fund it if they don’t pull back Obamacare or the ADA.” Great platform although you didn’t use it, because you are inherently dishonest. And then you offer lies, and “talking points,” and rhetoric about the way ADA is going to hurt everybody. The only hurt being caused is by YOU and all your fellow Republicans who are behind this.

I just read that Michelle Bachman was quoted saying with glee, “This is what we wanted.” LISTEN UP PEOPLE. This is what the Republicans wanted. Michelle Bachman is voting and gloating because they wanted YOUR HEAD on a platter, and your fridge empty of food and your house taken away, because they cannot accept that the first African American President Barack Obama has managed to change the rules. And make sure that every American has the right to affordable healthcare. You, of course, have offered no solution in return. You just want to make sure that we don’t get it.

So, I’m happy to let you know that I will be fighting your re-election, gerrymandering, and all attempts for you to be seated in ANY public office, because it is patently clear that while you are a grown man physically, mentally, you have not moved beyond junior high.

Oh, and by the way, your paycheck will be gone, too. Not this month’s, but next month’s. And perhaps you think that this will all be resolved when Obama finally gives in. It won’t. Might I remind you, the ADA passed 43 times. And you are still fighting it, instead of worrying about our homeless situation, or the amount of bankruptcies, or the corruption of banks that led to hundreds of thousands of people losing their homes. You aren’t worrying about the homeless vets who fought for our country and came back shattered and impaired. You aren’t worrying about schoolchildren. YOU are worrying about you and what your little posse thinks of you.

You may think the constituents will forget. I guarantee you, they will not. Oh, and by the way, those troops in Afghanistan who are willing to take a bullet for you? They are going to get IOUs. This is beyond ludicrous. IOUs, when they are serving our country, in terribly dangerous and hostile country, while you sit safe and sound in your nice little apartment in Washington, D.C. You have failed them, you have failed us, and you have failed yourself. You should hang your head in shame.

This should never have happened, and yet YOU were a key player in offering up sacrifices. Say goodbye to your career. This isn’t right, it isn’t just, and you have proved your worth.

Now, we will prove ours.

Natalie R. Collins.
