
The Lumineers came back to Kansas City on Saturday night, bringing with them an escalating reputation that needed validation. Before a crowd of about 12,000 at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater, they proved they can deliver the goods in a large environment and keep a big crowd entertained, if not enthralled.

The Kansas City Symphony brought an unconventional twist to Friday evening’s concert in Helzberg Hall. Opening with Carl Ruggles’ “Angels,” the orchestra set the tone for a program of music that when written heralded new practices and still defies expectations today.
